19 октября 2018 в 18.30 в ЕУСПб (ул. Шпалерная д. 1 ауд. 430) состоится лекция Алёны Леденёвой на тему ‘Informal Practices and Patterns of Ambivalence: Evidence from the Global Informality project’. Алена Леденёва - профессор политики и общества в Университетском Колледже Лондонской школы славянских и восточноевропейских исследований. Лекция пройдет на английском языке, после нее состоится дискуссия на русском языке.

Alena Ledeneva invites you on a voyage of discovery, to explore society’s open secrets, unwritten rules and know-how practices. Broadly defined as ‘ways of getting things done’, these invisible yet powerful informal practices tend to escape articulation in official discourse. They include emotion-driven exchanges of gifts or favours and tributes for services, interest-driven know-how (from informal welfare to informal employment and entrepreneurship), identity-driven practices of solidarity, and power-driven forms of co-optation and control. The paradox, or not, of the invisibility of these informal practices is their ubiquity. Expertly practised by insiders but often hidden from outsiders, informal practices are deeply rooted all over the world, yet underestimated in policy. Mapping the grey zones, blurred boundaries, types of ambivalence and patterns of complexity enables us to tackle the issues of social and cultural complexity locally and globally. The Global Informality Project is a cross-disciplinary initiative bringing together researchers from the humanities, social sciences and area studies, to enhance our knowledge of what works, how, where and why!

Она является всемирно известным экспертом в области неформальности и управления в России. Ее книги ‘Economy of Favours’ (1998), ‘How Russia Really Works’ (2006), and ‘Can Russia Modernize?’ (2013) стали обязательными источниками в социальных науках по российским исследованиям. Последние издания под ее редакцией: ‘Innovations in Corruption Studies’ (2017) и ‘The Global Encyclopedia of Informality’ (2018).
